Welcome

Annual Meeting of Plant Research funded by BMBF 2025 (PLANT 2030 Status Seminar)

We warmly welcome you to the annual meeting of plant research initiatives funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).

The conference will take place in Potsdam from March 5 to 7, 2025.

The meeting comprises three days of exciting scientific exchange on applied plant research. The agenda includes keynote lectures, project presentations in the form of talks, posters, and videos, an elevator pitch session and a workshop dedicated to all early-career scientists.

Please check the agenda below or the conference program for more information.

Registration

Registration is now open.

The registration fee is € 420 until January 10, 2024, later on € 480.

You need to log in or create a user account to register for the meeting.

Please check further down on this page whether you are eligible to attend.

Presenter instructions

Each project consortium of ongoing and new funding initiatives is required to be represented by an oral presentation. Each sub-project should be represented by a poster.

Please find detailed instructions for abstract submission, as well as for the preparation of talks and posters in the presenter instructions section.

Important deadlines

January 27, 2025: Room contingent ends at the conference hotel.

January 28, 2025: Submission of abstracts for talks and posters

February 21, 2025: Registration for presenting an Elevator Pitch

March 4, 2025: Poster PDF submission

Agenda

Plenary Sessions

The oral project presentations cover a wide range of topics related to applied plant sciences. The project consortia will present their latest progress and provide an outlook on planned work in the thematic sessions:

  • Pest Protection
  • Traits & Genetic Resources
  • Double Haploids & Hybrid breeding
  • Epigenetic Mechanisms
  • Cereal (Pan-)Genomics
  • Big Data for Breeding
  • Climate and site adaptation

Poster Presentation

Poster presentation is a key element of project evaluation and an excellent opportunity for all scientists to meet your colleagues and discuss the work done within the sub-projects.

Posters will be displayed throughout the entire meeting, with dedicated discussion time during the poster session on March 6 and during all coffee breaks.

Elevator Pitch & Awards

During the elevator pitch, young researchers are encouraged to present their work in a condensed, clear and creative way in only two minutes. The presentation should focus on the main idea or result of their research.

Participants have the chance to win one of two attractive prices, generously provided by GFPi.

More information can be found in the presenters instructions section.

Keynotes

The keynote lectures will complement the meeting, giving overview and insights into cutting-edge plant research and stimulating fruitful discussions.

Speakers and topics of this year's keynotes will be announced soon.

Who may participate at the conference?

The Annual Meeting of Plant Research funded by BMBF is an internal conference and is not open to the public. Therefore, please verify your eligibility to attend the conference.

Attendance of principal investigators and other scientists

Each principal investigator (PI) of ongoing PLANT 2030 and related projects is required to participate and present the progress made in the respective projects. If you are unable to attend the seminar in person, you must appoint a substitute.

Each project consortium of the following research initiatives is represented at the conference:

  • Plant Breeding Research for the Bioeconomy III
  • Epigenetics – Chances for Plant Research
  • Modern breeding research for climate- and site-adapted crops of tomorrow

Scientists (Postdocs, PhD-students etc.) involved in the abovementioned PLANT 2030 and related projects are welcome to attend the seminar. They are strongly encouraged to present their work on a poster.

Members of other related and former programs are also welcome to join the seminar. These include de.NBI, DPPN, DataPlant, and BoNaRes projects as well as finished projects of Crops of the Future, IPAS, Plant Breeding Research for the Bioeconomy I-II, Plant Biotechnology for the Future, PLANT-KBBE, AgroClustEr, GlobE and BioEnergie 2021, to name just a few. Participants are invited to actively take part in the seminar. Poster presentations on the further results of these projects are highly appreciated.

Guests

In certain cases, interested guests may also participate. However, this has to be approved by the PLANT 2030 Managing Office for public partners and the Gemeinschaft zur Förderung von Pflanzeninnovation e.V. (GFPi) for private partners. If you are uncertain about your eligibility, please contact the PLANT 2030 Managing Office at info@statusseminar.de.
